Barton Serves as Moderator for Michigan Banking Summit

September 12, 2008 — David W. Barton, a partner in Bodman’s Cheboygan office, served as moderator of the recent Michigan Banking Summit conducted by the Michigan Bankers Association in Lansing.

The panel presentation included Ken Ross, the commissioner of the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation, and senior level representatives of the FDIC, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Reserve and the Office of Thrift Supervision. The presentation focused on the issues and challenges facing Michigan banks and was attended by more than 100 senior bank executives.

Barton represents financial institutions in matters involving corporate law and governance, loan documentation, workouts, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory matters and securities law. He organizes de novo financial institutions, bank holding companies and subsidiaries. Barton also acts as corporate counsel to small and medium sized businesses in a variety of business law and real estate matters.

The Michigan Banking Summit gives bankers and regulators the opportunity to participate in an open and frank dialogue about current issues facing Michigan banks. The summit is attended by CEOs, bank directors, senior lenders, risk managers and compliance officers.
