Walsh Speaks to State Highway and Transportation Officials on Billboard Valuation

May 8, 2008 — Bodman partner James J. Walsh was a featured speaker at the Rights of Way and Utilities Conference hosted by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials at the Amway Grand Plaza in Grand Rapids on May 7.

Walsh spoke on the topic of “Billboard Valuation: Michigan’s Experience.”

Walsh has represented leading outdoor advertising companies within Michigan for more than 30 years and serves as general counsel to the Michigan Outdoor Advertising Association. He has broad litigation experience at the trial and appellate levels, having argued more than 40 appeals in both state and federal appellate courts.

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials advocates transportation-related policies and provides technical services to support states in their efforts to efficiently and safely move people and goods. The Rights of Way and Utilities Subcommittee, comprised of the chief Right of Way officer and the chief Utilities officer of the Departments of Transportation of all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, assists member organizations in improving the efficiency and quality of Right of Way and Utilities practices necessary to provide transportation facilities for the public.
