Bodman LLP Employment Law Alert: DOL Announces new FirstStep elaws Advisor on Recordkeeping, Reporting and Notices

May 6, 2008 — The U.S. Department of Labor today announced that it has added a new FirstStep elaws Advisor to its web site on “Recordkeeping, Reporting and Notices.” The new FirstStep Recordkeeping, Reporting and Notices Advisor summarizes the paperwork requirements for each major law enforced by the DOL.

Elaws advisors are Web-based tools designed to help employers and employees understand the law. According to the DOL press release, “By using this tool, employers can easily determine which recordkeeping, reporting and notice requirements apply to them under the major laws administered by the Department. “

This new elaws Advisor joins the revised and expanded FirstStep Poster and FirstStep Employment Law Overview Advisors. All three Advisors help employers identify the federal employment laws relevant to them and then explain how to comply with the requirements. This new suite of elaws Advisors is available at www.dol.gov/elaws/firststep.
