Community Legal Resources Names Ballard “Volunteer Attorney of the Year”

December 7, 2007 — Community Legal Resources (CLR) has named Bodman partner Christopher A. Ballard its “Volunteer Attorney of the Year” for 2007.

CLR honored Ballard and other award recipients at its 9th annual volunteer recognition event held on December 4 in Detroit.

According to CLR, Ballard received the award “for accepting numerous complex issues for the last several years. Ballard’s accessibility and knowledge impressed his clients, and he volunteered his time training other attorneys to conduct legal audits for a joint project between CLR, New Detroit, Inc., General Motors Legal Staff, Dykema and Bodman.”

CLR, with the assistance of private attorneys, provides pro bono legal representation to Michigan nonprofit organizations that work with disadvantaged communities and with individuals who could not otherwise afford legal services. Since its inception in 1998, CLR has delivered an estimated $5.5 million in pro bono legal services to over 550 worthy organizations.

Ballard, who practices in Bodman’s Ann Arbor office, focuses his practice in estate planning, trust administration, nonprofit organizations, taxation and business planning. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America as one of Michigan’s leading Non-Profit/Charities Law attorneys. He is a member of the Washtenaw Estate Planning Council and serves as secretary and a member of the board of directors of the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County.
