Michigan Bankers Association Endorses Membership in Financial Institutions Compliance Cooperative

November 30, 2007 — The Michigan Bankers Association (MBA) has officially endorsed membership in the Financial Institutions Compliance Cooperative (FICC).

Bodman LLP, which has Michigan’s largest banking law practice, provides all legal services offered to individual member banks through the FICC.

The MBA reserves such endorsements for products or services that it deems superior in providing value and quality to its members.

“FICC membership is an outstanding opportunity for MBA members to reduce their legal costs while increasing their access to top legal advice on regulatory and operational issues,” said Dennis Koons, Michigan Bankers Association president and CEO. “In addition, the agreement between Bodman and the MBA will expand the ability of MBA members to obtain in-depth legal analysis of Michigan legislation and its possible impact on the banking industry and reduce their legal costs.”

Since 1982, members of the FICC (which currently number nearly 100 banks) have received a variety of benefits, including a newsletter with detailed analyses of legal issues relevant to financial institutions, model compliance and operations manuals, periodic seminars, and substantial discounts on top quality legal services.

“Bodman has a history of finding innovative ways to bring value to our banking clients,” said Larry Shulman, Bodman LLP’s chairman. “This is especially important in today’s incredibly competitive banking environment. Bodman looks forward to working with the MBA to introduce more Michigan financial institutions to the many advantages of FICC membership.”

The MBA, the state’s largest banking trade group, is the voice of the banking industry. Comprised of Michigan financial institutions with over 2,300 branches located throughout the state, the MBA promotes strong communities and economic activity in Michigan by advancing a positive business environment.
