Article: Web Site Privacy Policies: A Checklist for Corporate Management

This article identifies some of the steps a company can take to reduce its legal exposure in connection with its collection, use, and dissemination of information gathered about visitors to its web site, and thus to minimize the likelihood that its site will attract the scrutiny of state and federal regulators, or be the target of customer complaints. Adherence to sound privacy policies will also strengthen the perception of the company’s integrity in the eyes of customers, strategic partners, and web site visitors.
