Biography
Mr. Brower has extensive experience in representing clients in complex civil litigation matters, including lender liability claims against banks and financial institutions, as well as employment, civil rights, wrongful discharge and personal injury lawsuits.
Mr. Brower’s litigation experience includes the following:
- Represented the Henry Ford Health System in certificate-of-need litigation (at both the trial and appellate levels) that upheld the licensure of beds for strategic expansion in Oakland County.
- Represented the Detroit Medical Center in its successful effort to prevent the Karmanos Cancer Institute from moving its hospital facility away from the main Detroit Medical Center campus.
- Representation of The Detroit Lions in a breach of contract suit filed by the City of Pontiac over the Lions’ move to Ford Field in downtown Detroit. Pontiac claimed damages in excess of $100 million. The case ultimately settled on terms satisfactory to the Lions.
- Representation of a major newspaper chain in numerous employee lawsuits involving claims of wrongful termination and breach of contract, including the dismissal of several such cases by summary judgment.
- Representation of major railway companies, the Archdiocese of Detroit, and others in hundreds of significant personal injury lawsuits.
- Representation of major banks in suits involving claims of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, and fraud. Mr. Brower has achieved dismissal of several such cases involving millions of dollars in potential damages.
Mr. Brower has authored numerous articles on trial evidence and contributed to treatises on that subject.
