Mr. Colvin, who is also a certified public accountant, practices primarily in the areas of estate planning and taxation, including estate and gift taxes and audits, estate and trust administration, and corporate and partnership taxes for closely held business concerns. He assists wealthy individuals with the purchase and sale of significant personal assets, including art collections, aircraft, watercraft and real property.
Mr. Colvin has particular expertise advising professional athletes in regard to the business, legal and wealth planning aspects of their careers and post playing days. He has helped several prominent athletes structure new business deals, exit existing deals with minimal liability, negotiate marketing and promotional contracts, plan significant charitable contributions, form private foundations, and plan for their family’s security. He often partners with player agents and other professionals to resolve the legal issues associated with complex business transactions, protect the athlete’s intellectual property rights, structure contracts to minimize tax liability, and discreetly resolve personal legal issues.
Mr. Colvin serves as a trustee for several private foundations.
