Mr. Mielock represents financial institutions in matters involving banking law and bank regulatory issues. Before joining the Firm, he served for more than 26 years with the Michigan Financial Institutions Bureau. His career included service as Chief Deputy Commissioner and Acting Commissioner. Most recently he was Special Advisor to the Commissioner of the Office of Financial and Insurance Services, a successor agency to the Financial Institutions Bureau, which now regulates the banking, insurance and securities industries.
At the Bureau, he supervised the regulation of banks, credit unions, savings and loans, and non-depository institutions, including mortgage brokers and lenders. He has participated for many years in the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. He also served as Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors.
Prior to his career at the Financial Institutions Bureau, Mr. Mielock was a personal trust officer at Manufacturers National Bank of Detroit, now Comerica Bank.
